KANSAS CITY, MO – The First Friday in June will be a real Textilepalooza at the Belger Arts Center! In conjunction with the 14th International Surface Design Association Conference, the Belger will host the official SDA Trunk Sale, plus open four new exhibits. The opening reception for the exhibits plus the Trunk Sale will run concurrently on June 1 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The exhibits will run through September 7, 2007.

Artists in these shows, which are presented in collaboration with the Surface Design Association, are Kyoung Ae Cho of Milwaukee, WI; Dorothy Caldwell of Ontario, Canada; Annet Couwenberg of Baltimore, MD; and Kate Kretz of Burlington, NC. All of these exhibits will be in the Belger Arts Center’s main galleries on the third floor of the Belger Cartage Building. Kyoung Ae Cho, a former instructor in the Fiber Department of the Kansas City Art Institute will give a brief artist talk at 5:30 PM on June 1 on the third floor of the Belger Building.

In addition, Laura Bernard, a spring 2007 graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute will display four large hand-dyed silk and cotton fabric pieces in the ground floor gallery of the Belger Arts Center this summer. Due to the SDA Trunk Sale, which will take place in the ground floor gallery on June 1, Ms. Bernard’s work will not be on display until the following Wednesday, June 6, and will remain on display through September 7.
